Which shower is best for my hot water system?

This all depends on what you want from a shower, as an example:

Electric showers are fully independent and work from mains fed cold water. The pressure of Electric showers is determined by the KW output, the higher the KW the better flow of water. Gravity fed showers work on gravity and the flow of water is determined by the height of the cold-water tank, supplying the cylinder.
The bottom of the cold-water tank needs to be at least 1 meter above the height of the shower head to obtain a reasonable flow of water.

Pumped showers, ie power showers work on Gravity systems only, there are mainly two types of power showers, a power shower that has a built in pump,Aqualisa Aquastream,Triton Power Shower,Bristan 1000 power shower. And power showers that work with a separate pump that is fitted away from the shower unit, exampleAqualisa Quartz Digital Shower,Triton Satelite Digital Shower. These types of showers when it comes to flow of water are the best, this type of shower is usually preferred due to the high flow of water pressure, but the only consideration to make is that these showers use much more water than gravity or electric showers.
If you have a combination boiler or high pressure system you have the choice of ether installing an Electric shower or a thermostatic mixer shower. Example Aqualisa Midas Shower.

I have very low main pressure, can i install an electric shower?

Yes, most electric showers are designed to work from mains pressure, however if you have very low or fluctuating pressure you can install a plumed electric shower, example:Redring Expressions 570 Pumped Electric Shower or the Triton pumped electric showers.

Pumped electric showers are installed with the supply of water coming from a cold water tank, the pump in the body of the electric shower then keeps the flow of water at a constant flow, giving the perfect supply for the electric shower.
 

Can I fit a power shower with a combination boiler?

No, power showers can only be fitted on gravity fed systems. Power showers must be connected to both the hot and cold stored water supplies.
 

Can i fit a digital shower with a combination boiler?

How do I know what water system I have

If you have a cold water tank (cistern) in your loft and a hot water tank (cylinder) in your airing cupboard, this is a gravity-fed system. It’s the

most common household plumbing system and means you have a low pressure water system. Having low pressure need not limit your choice of shower type. If your hot water cylinder is large enough, simply choose from our extensive range of showers
 

If you have a hot water tank (cylinder), usually found in your airing cupboard, but you don’t have a cold water tank (cistern) in your loft or garage, this is an unvented high pressure system. This can look similar to a low pressure system so check carefully to avoid confusion. Also take caution in refurbished houses with disused water tanks.
