6 Creative Ways to Hide Exposed Pipes by Bathroom Experts

Exposed pipework and industrial finishes are all hot bathroom design trends for 2019 – but for those of us not keen on showing off our plumbing, here are some clever little pipe covering ideas for any bathroom.

How to hide pipes in my bathroom?

It is important to note, before you go fiddling with your pipes, that you should always consult a plumber or professional that knows their way around a bathroom. This will avoid leaks and ruined flooring. Happy hiding!

  1. Build a storage unit around them

Using bathroom furniture to conceal pipes not only looks nice but is easier to clean than pipework and doubles up as a great way to store all those toiletries. This is an easy solution for the plumbing around a sink – simply integrate a beautiful vanity unit! Cistern units will also hide unsightly toilet piping.

  1. Box them in

Similar to our first option, simply build around your pipes. However, instead of buying bathroom furniture for the job, you could always give it a go yourself. Hide your bathroom pipework using some wood, screws and skill. Or get someone else to do it.

  1. Remodel your bathroom

A pricey option, but the only true way to really hide those pesky pipes. The plumbing could be concealed behind a wall, or your qualified professional can always move the pipes around so that they are less exposed.

  1. Accessorise them

Another creative pipe covering idea is to simply adorn them in such a way that they no longer look unattractive. This can be done with a number of bathroom accessories, or if you’re feeling more creative, consider:

  • Plants: Not only will they look great, but you can easily wrap plants or arrange flowers around your pipework to conceal it. It doesn’t matter if you go for faux or real, both will do the trick. However, if you would like to use real plants, make sure they can thrive in your bathroom.
  • Rope: There are not many rooms in the house where you can feature rope as a décor accessory- but it can totally add a nautical vibe to your bathroom if used correctly. Not only that, but you can hide bathroom plumbing effectively too! Ahoy!
  1. Paint them a vibrant colour

No, we aren’t suggesting that a lick of paint will magically hide your plumbing, but it could turn them from an eyesore into a feature. If you’re not a fan of such a bold look, painting your pipes the same colour as your walls will go a long way in concealing them too.

    Replace them with fancier pipes

Our final suggestion in our list of creative ways to hide exposed pipes is:  If you can’t beat them, join them. An industrial, exposed pipework bathroom can be achieved by simply replacing your plumbing with a sleek chrome or copper finish. Not, only can this look great, but it means easy access if you ever have an issue with your plumbing- rather than having to access them through the walls.
