A guide to the different types of heating system for your bathroom

There is nothing worse than getting into a shower when the bathroom is cold and unwelcoming. If you want to avoid finding yourself in that situation, it’s best to invest in a proper heating system for your bathroom. Just like choosing the perfect shower, choosing the perfect heating system for your bathroom is an equally important decision. This post will explain the types of bathroom heating systems, so you can decide which one would be most suited for you.

1. Underfloor heating

If you can afford a more luxurious lifestyle, an underfloor heating system is sure to improve your bathroom experience. We al know how unpleasant it is to step out of the shower straight onto ice-cold tiles, but with an underfloor heating system you won’t have to worry about that.

You could choose between two types:

• The dry system: uses a series of electric wires. These wires will warm up the floor above.

• The wet system: instead of electric wires, it uses hot water pipes to heat the floor.

This type of a heating system won’t only warm up the floor, but also works as a bathroom radiator warming up the whole room. Because the heating system works from underneath the floor, this makes it a good idea for small toilet rooms or bathrooms with a minimalist design.

While an underfloor heating system can be very expensive to purchase and install, once you have it it’s pretty inexpensive to run.

2. Heated towel rails

This option would work perfectly whether you have a small bathroom or a medium one such as an ensuite bathroom. By purchasing a heated towel rail you will not only make your bathroom warm and welcoming, but they will also heat up your towels. So when you get out of the shower you can wrap yourself in a cosy warmed-up towel.

A heated towel rail would make a great addition to a modern or minimalist bathroom as their design is timeless and universally pleasing. To install one you will need some wall space, however they work better in small bathrooms than normal radiators as they can be put vertically which minimalized the space they take.

A smaller bathroom would be easily warmed up by a small heated towel rail, however if you have a larger bathroom they might require another source to help heat it up properly.

Know the size and shape of your bathroom

You need to consider not only the size of your bathroom, but also the shape of it before setting your mind on what heating system to get.

While you are free to choose most systems for a larger bathroom, a smaller one will give you limited options. However, if you benefit from a big bathroom you need to consider the fact that some heaters won’t be efficient enough to cover the whole space, so keep that in mind before making a purchase.
